2026 BOARD OF DIRECTORS - NOMINEES

 Michael Charleton

Deborah Davidson

Deborah has been a bike enthusiast since age 4, when she received a Huffy bike with training wheels. After experiencing falls and skinned knees, she developed a taste of the freedom and exhilaration a bike had to offer. Since then, she's incorporated an assortment of cruisers, mountain bikes and road bikes.

Deborah was born in Ft. Benning, Georgia, the youngest in a military family. That meant moving every 2-3 years and being able to ride on military bases unfettered. The bike provided an exciting way to explore the new domains.

Deborah pulled up stakes from Florida in 2007, where she landed in beautiful Sonoma County. Her first climb was up Lawndale Road, where she had to dismount and walk her bike .Eventually, she was able to obtain skills and camaraderie through SRCC, after joining the club in 2017. The members were encouraging and supportive and since that time, Deborah has volunteered for the WCC, led several rides and would like to give back to the club by becoming more involved in its’ day to day operations.

Deborah has lived in Sonoma County for 16 years, has led Oakmont rides for approximately 7 years, and has volunteered with performing arts venues. She received a B.S. degree in Journalism from the University of Florida and a MSW from Florida State University. Deborah practiced as a L.C.S.W. and retired in 2022. Her hobbies include cycling, gardening, hiking, reading, photography, fine arts, and film.

John Eberly

My first “real” bicycle was a Raleigh Record (circa 1975) that was a high school graduation gift from my mother and I rode this bike everyday to my job as a life guard at a nearby lake. I think her motivation was that she wouldn’t need to drive me to work. Since then, cycling has become an integral part of my life. I initially joined SRCC after moving to Sonoma County in the 1990s (the Wine Country Century was a major influence in this relocation from the south bay) and most recently rejoined the club prior to the pandemic. I’m a two-time California Double Century Triple Crown recipient, former racer with Redwood Empire and current rider for the Fightin’ Bobas.

While not riding or camping, I like to use my skills as a certified bicycle mechanic from the United Bicycle Institute and create cycling related YouTube videos with my son (Wild Boar Cycling - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZZ-zMSnKU4-RWHZ0_1pQ9g).  Favorite places to ride besides Sonoma County: Steamboat Springs, Colorado; and Joseph, Sisters, and Ashland, Oregon.  My vision:  Ride, Have Fun, and Keep the Rubber Side Down.

Kurt Hoffmann

My cycling foundation was hours exploring the suburbs of St. Louis and Chicago on my bike with friends as a kid.

In 1979 I became part of a wave that discovered bike racing through the movie Breaking Away. In 1984 I joined St. Louis Cycling Club, the oldest cycling club in the US founded in 1887. In January 1984 I got dead last in my first bike race. At that race, Craig Farrell, who led SLCC's daily junior training rides, told me if I was serious about racing, I should join the club. I won my first race 3 months later and enjoyed many great experiences training/racing with the team, including 2 junior development camps at the Olympic Training Center, an 8-day stage race in Colorado and Missouri State Champion in the 75-miles road race. I returned to the sport in 2020, joining Santa Rosa Cycling Club. I did my first race since the 80s, the TNT crits, in Fall 2022 and joined Red Peloton in 2023. I also ride every other month in Santa Clarita, far North LA, where I have spent time and been a member of the cycling community since 2022.

I host a cycling podcast on YouTube, Burning Matches, where I interview riders from my decades in cycling.

My experience from St. Louis Cycling Club to SRCC, Red Peloton and Santa Clarita Velo/CBS Cycling have helped me appreciate mentors and the many other people who help the wheels go around.

My goal is to enjoy competitive cycling while contributing to improving and growing this incredible sport.

Deni Lee

I am interested in joining the board for Santa Rosa Cycling Club. I have volunteered for many events and have been on many of the beautiful rides that SRCC offers.

I love how organized this club is and would like to be a bigger part of it. I have a lot of energy and would like to direct it to wherever is needed. I am not afraid of work!

I am retired from PG&E after 43 years in mostly physical blue collar jobs. I have been on the PG&E Employees association Board for several years and eventually became chairman. I did this twice for a total of about 12 years.

David Majerus, Treasurer

I have been riding bikes my entire life. My wife and I (we met riding bikes in Washington DC) moved to CA in 1998 and we joined the SRCC in 2012. Our most interesting ride was a self-guided tour around the perimeter of the US on our tandem. Now fully retired, I spend my days walking our black lab (named Tourmelet) and riding my bike around the roads in Sonoma County.  With plenty of free time, I felt it was time to give back to the club and offered my services to be treasurer.

John Mills

John is a long time member of the SRCC and has contributed to the club in many different ways. From leading hundreds of rides to serving previously on the board to working many years on the WCC and Terrible Two. He has helped organize special events including multi-level rides, monthly challenges and welcome wagon rides. John has also worked in the Sonoma County community on several different Boards and Commissions including 20 years on the County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, and several terms on the Petaluma Planning Commission, Bicycle Advisory Committee and Architectural Review board. He has worked behind the scenes and in public forums to help promote bicycle advocacy and safety. In addition he has worked in the bicycle industry on all levels; manufacturing, wholesale, retail and as a local bicycle tour guide.

Steve Saxe

Steve Saxe joined SRCC in 2012, shortly after returning to Sonoma County following a 37-year absence. Steve is a native of California and attended SRJC in the 1970s, where he started his career in theater and quickly switched to science for its preferred income potential. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and the University of Arizona, has lived for good stretches in Texas (long story) and Minnesota (longer story), and recently retired from his day job as a technical marketing manager for a local optical manufacturing company. In addition to his current passion for cycling, Steve is also a lifelong photographer and musician. If asked why he fancies the club, he will tell you that he loves the companionship of the wonderful and interesting people, and the fresh air and stunning landscapes of Sonoma County.

Mark Terrien

I began cycling in Sonoma County when I moved here in 1980 from Wisconsin to work at HP.  Retirement from the electronics industry in 2021 made it much easier to ride regularly with the club.  I’ve enjoyed the rides, friendships and camaraderie of the SRCC members I’ve met, including the Tail Winds, Team Wednesday and Friendly Friday folks.  I’ve also enjoyed giving back to the club by volunteering for the WCC and leading rides.

I have a background in electronics and business, having worked as a program manager with groups of people developing new and interesting products.  I served for two years on the Board of Directors of the local American Heart Association. Along with cycling, I’m passionate about guitar playing, music and winemaking.

Gary Weeks

I moved to Santa Rosa Aug of 2014 and joined the SRCC in October and have been with the club since and have enjoyed so many rides and great lunches!  I have been a ride leader for several years, and a member of the board of directors 3 years, 2017-2019.  Now I am running again as an ongoing way to contribute to this great club.

I started cycling with my first good bike, a used Claud Butler (British) in 1970 and since then a succession of vintage bikes that continue to grace my garage. I have been on a few of the club tours, the Tahoe ride once, RAGBRAI twice (the 48th and 50th anniversary). Just for something different I completed the Incarnation 100k, Giro Bello 100k,  and Tour de Fuzz 100k all on a fixed gear bike along with various other rides.  I do also ride a 'geared' bike too!
