The 50th Annual WCC is in the books, and it was a day to remember…
Thank you, thank you, thank you to the many hundreds of hardy Riders and Volunteers
who braved the elements and came out to celebrate the 50th with us!
Rest Stop Stories. Our resilient and resourceful Volunteers dug deep to help take some of the sting out of the cold, wet weather.- Monte Rio had their hot quesadilla on the menu, plus the regular: hot coffee, tea, and chocolate. Volunteers started their cars and turned on their heaters so soggy Riders could get in and warm up. They also persuaded the Monte Rio Fire Department to open up a warming area and provide blankets. Volunteers and SAG drivers returned Riders to the start if they were unable to continue.
- Wohler Bridge opened a trailer as a warming area with extra jackets and blankets. Volunteers made several trips, taking Riders unable to continue back to the start.
- Warm Springs Dam added hot grilled cheese sandwiches and chicken soup to the hot drinks.
