Mt Tam this Friday 6/21 catching the Smart train going south leaving Airport station at 7:19 am and arriving at San Rafael at 8:26 am and taking the train going north from San Rafael at 2:29 pm. That will give us 6 hours to complete this ride and hopefully stop at Gestalt Haus for a sausage and beer! So 38 miles and 5000'. The trickiest part of the ride is the 4.2 miles to and from San Rafael train depot to Fairfax. So everyone will have to be prepared to be a bit resilient on this ride because if you have a major mechanical you are going to have to figure out how to get home as no one on this ride will have a car to pick you up. Make sure your batteries are charged, tires and brakes are in good shape, and the bike is well serviced.
Also make sure you either download this route into your Garmin or at the very least bring a route slip because if you for some reason get dropped off the back you will need to know how to get back to the train station from Fairfax.
