Even though the total closure of the bridge will not start until April 1, there will be impacts even this week.  See the notice I just received:

Ghilotti Construction must perform Bird Mitigation Activities, resulting in intermittent closures of the bridge lasting up to 30 minutes per incident. The purpose of this work is to prevent bird nesting and in turn delaying the project schedule. Work will take place starting on 03/26/25 between the hours of 7AM & 3PM

My recommendation is to avoid routes that use Wohler Bridge after today.  Reminder that Westside Rd is also closed between River  and Wohler Rd (close to River Rd).

SRCC members and Ride Leaders, be aware of the closure described in the public service announcement below. This closure, in combination of the closure of Westside Road between River Rd and Wohler Rd, means that rides cannot really use Westside Rd, other than to connect to Sweetwater Springs and Mill Creek or maybe an up-and-back. It is unclear when the work will be done but likely late fall a earliest.

🚧 Wohler Road Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project Begins April 1, 2025 🚧

Big news for our community! After years of planning, the Wohler Road Bridge over the Russian River Seismic Retrofit Project is set to begin on April 1, 2025. This $17 million project will strengthen and rehabilitate the bridge over the Russian River, ensuring its safety and longevity for years to come.

    What You Need to Know:

πŸ”Ή Road Closure – The bridge will be completely closed for the duration of the project.

πŸ”Ή Detour Route – Due to the 2025 winter storms, Westside Road is currently unavailable, making the detour longer than anticipated. We’re actively working to repair Westside Road as soon as possible.

πŸ”Ή Emergency Coordination – We are working closely with law enforcement, fire, and emergency responders to ensure everyone is informed and prepared for the closure.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this critical project and address the unexpected challenges from recent storm damage.
